Structure

DCS has a rich history in the Dearborn community. The school was founded by the Dearborn Christian School Society in 1957 and continues to serve Dearborn and the surrounding communities today. We currently have 79 students enrolled in grades K-8. Their families attend over 20 area churches. Our school is small which lends itself to a unique community spirit. Students interact with not only their classmates but with all the students in the school.

DCS is run by the Dearborn Christian School Society, a non-profit organization made up of school parents and others that have an active interest in the school (i.e. parents of graduated students or alumni).

DCS offers an atmosphere where God's Word permeates all areas of learning and is the pattern for all relationships. Our school families agree to partner together in striving for academic excellence in a Christ-centered educational environment that is strengthened by the foundation of a Christ-centered home. Parents commit to helping the school by performing a minimum of 35 parent hours (for a 2 parent family, 17 ½ for a single parent family) a year. These hours can be completed in a wide variety of ways such as going on field trips, baking for school events, organizing and helping at school events to name just a few.

DCS parents have a say in the operation of the school. As members of the School Society they elect the school board which then makes policy and staffing decisions. The board works closely with the principal who attends board meetings.

DCS is a member of Christian Schools International. Christian Schools International's mission is to advance Christian education and support schools in their task of teaching students to know God and His world and to glorify Him through obedient service.
