Dearborn Christian School

School spirit

Dearborn Christian School provides opportunities where students can grow closer as a school community. . A special effort is made to integrate the different grades in order to promote caring for others and friendships. Younger students look up to their older school mates as positive role models, while older students display kind and compassionate attitudes that impact and influence their younger peers.

DCS provides many activities in which students of all ages can learn and grow together:

"Reading book buddies"

Our "Book Buddies" program matches 5th and 6th graders together with 1st and 2nd graders. Buddies read books and do special projects together weekly, during school.

"Friendship teams"

Also, every month, the school gathers together in "Friendship Teams" for special activities like leaf raking or eating lunch together.  Friendship Teams are composed of one or two students from each grade, and helps to promote a sense of community. DCS students are encouraged to look out for one another in brotherly love.

"Funtastic Fridays"

Occasionally a "Funtastic Friday" is declared, in which students as well as staff express their school spirit by dressing up in fun ways. Crazy hair day, 'wear your pajamas to school' day and wearing your favorite team's jersey day are just a few!

Talent show and family fun night events

Every other year in February the school sponsors a Talent Show which showcases the talents of our students and their families.  In the alternate year, students in grade 7 and 8 are helped to organize Family Fun games such as a Cake Walk, Face Painting, Basket Ball Throw etc.  Both events are held in the school basement and are a ton of fun.

Rollerskating nights

Three evenings each year the school reserves the Lincoln Park Rollerskating Rink and encourages families and friends of the school to come out and skate.

Gymnights

A gymnasium is rented a few times during the winter months and students and their families play a variety of gym games.
