Athletics
At DCS every student has the opportunity to participate in athletics. Athletics help develop a healthy body and a healthy mind. Our students have an opportunity to participate in soccer and basketball.
Our coaches…
- are parent volunteers and community leaders who love the sport they coach
- model Christ-like attitudes in teaching the students the game
- strive to teach the fundamentals of the sport
- model good sportsmanship to the players and spectators
Student participation in games and practices is encouraged. It is a wonderful opportunity to see children play who might otherwise not get a chance to develop athletic skills.
Soccer
Soccer is a co-ed sport that is available to all boys and girls in 5th through 8th grade.
Basketball
Basketball is available to all boys and girls in 5th through 8th grade.
Field Day
Every year in May the students participate in a modified “Track and Field” event. The students are divided up into their Friendship Teams and compete in events such as The 50meter Dash, Long Jump, Jump Roping, Soccer Ball Kick etc. This is a fun event that challenges the students to do their best athletically and to encourage their team mates. Ribbons are given to all participants and to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place athletes in each grade. Parents are encouraged to help with the events and/or cheer on their kids.
