Academic excellence in our test scores
Dearborn Christian School focuses on the overall education of the child which is evidenced in our various learning styles and approaches. Whether a teacher forms learning centers, delivers an interactive lecture, challenges the class to a comprehension game or works in small groups, DCS teachers vary the style and approaches. Just like no one shirt fits all, not all teaching styles reach all students. With this varied approach, our students are better prepared for an accelerated curriculum.
But don't take our word for it. Look at the test scores. Dearborn Christian School participates in the Iowa and MEAP testing for grades 1-8.
The percentile rank of each grade is listed in the chart to the left. This is a comparison of the DCS student's average performance on a test with the performance of students nationwide in private schools.
For example, 2nd grade scored a 91, which means that DCS 2nd graders performed higher than 91% of the classes nationwide that took this Iowa Basic Skills test.
This same 2nd grade class was evaluated for their "National Grade Equivalent" or NGE. The NGE gives a grade level equivalence based on our student's performance as compared nationally. The NGE for the 2010 2nd grade class was 4.1. The 4.1 means that these 2nd graders performed at about the fourth grade first month level on the test. Another way to say this is OUR 2nd GRADERS are on the same level as a 4th grader!
Across the board, our NGE scores were impressive. For more information on DCS' performance on these standard tests, please use our online request form and we will contact you shortly.
